Joan's Schedule of ClassesCheck Joan's website www.joanhyman.com for her teaching schedule.
Joan Hyman began teaching dance and fitness at 16 years old. After completing a degree in Exercise Physiology at Temple University in Philadelphia, she embarked on a 12 year dancing career taking her from NYC, LA, and Las Vegas to Singapore, Australia, and the Caribbean. Joan first experienced yoga in her early twenties at NYC’s Jivamukti, and continued her studies with Cindy Lee, and Dana Strong at Ohm. During the course of her dancing career in Las Vegas, Joan was introduced to the Ashtanga Yoga Method. One year later, she moved to Los Angles to take the Yoga Works teacher training program in Santa Monica, California under the watchful eye of intermediate Iyengar instructor Lisa Walford and world renowned Ashtanga teacher Maty Ezraty, co-founder of Yoga Works. Joan continued to study the Ashtanga practice in the Mysore tradition with Maty for next three years. She became one of Maty’s most well-liked and knowledgeable assistants and went on to apprentice with Annie Carpenter. Shortly thereafter, she started teaching vinyasa flow at Yoga Works and at studios all over Los Angeles. Expanding on her practice in the Iyengar Method, Joan has also been privileged to study under Gabriella Giubilaro from Italy, Lisa Walford, and Marla Apt. Her teachings and practice has taken her all over the world. In far off places like Zurich, Switzerland and Florence, Italy she continues to use yoga as a journey to help her evolve to her highest potential and to keep her in the light she has created. www.joanhyman.com |
